What Customers Value About Our Studio
Six qualities that define the Rattana Studio experience — drawn from fifteen years of watchmaking in Bangkok.
Seasoned Watchmakers
Our team brings decades of combined bench experience covering Swiss lever, cylinder, and co-axial escapements alongside Japanese automatic calibres.
Clear Communication
We explain what we have found in plain language. You are invited to ask questions at any stage, and you decide whether and how to proceed.
Agreed Pricing
Costs are discussed and confirmed before work begins. No additional charges are added without a separate conversation and your agreement.
Respect for Originality
On vintage and collectible pieces, we favour conservation of original components over replacement. When substitution is necessary, it is discussed openly.
Proper Workshop Tools
Ultrasonic cleaning, timing machine verification, and magnification tools appropriate to each task — the right equipment for the quality of work we aim to deliver.
Post-Service Warranty
Movement servicing is covered by a written warranty on our workmanship. Details are explained clearly when the watch is collected.
Professional Expertise You Can See
Rattana Studio's team has worked on several thousand movements since 2009, across a wide range of manufacturers and eras. That depth of experience means fewer surprises when a movement is opened and more informed options offered to the owner.
- 15+ years of continuous watchmaking practice in Bangkok
- Swiss and Japanese calibre expertise across multiple eras
- Complex vintage movements handled with appropriate care
In practice
When a vintage movement arrives with an unusual complication or a manufacture calibre that requires a specific approach, experienced hands and familiarity with the history of that calibre make a meaningful difference to the outcome. Generic service centre staff do not always have this background.
In practice
A timing machine reading taken in five positions before and after servicing gives both us and the owner measurable evidence of how the regulation has changed. It is an objective reference point, not a subjective claim about quality.
Measured, Documented Results
We use a timing machine to measure rate and amplitude before and after every movement service. The results form part of the written service record provided to each owner — a concrete reference for the condition of their movement.
- Multi-position timing machine testing
- Amplitude and beat error checked alongside rate
- Written service record provided on collection
Service That Feels Personal
Your watch is not a job number here. We learn a little about the piece and, where relevant, its history. That context shapes how we approach the work and the advice we offer.
- Walk-ins welcome during workshop hours
- Direct contact with the watchmaker handling your piece
- Updates provided if scope or timeline changes
In practice
If you bring in an inherited watch and mention its history, that information reaches the workbench. It may influence whether we recommend restoring or preserving certain elements, and how we discuss trade-offs with you.
In practice
If a second opinion is needed before committing to a vintage rebuild, we will say so honestly. We would rather you proceed with confidence than feel uncertain about a significant piece of work on a valued watch.
Honest Value, Not Inflated Scope
We do not suggest work that is not needed, and we explain clearly when a simpler intervention would serve the watch as well as a more involved one. Pricing reflects the actual work required.
- Transparent pricing matched to scope of work
- No obligation after initial assessment
- Honest advice on whether work is worth undertaking

What Stands Out
Distinctive Qualities of the Studio
Written Service Records as Standard
Every completed service is accompanied by documentation: what was done, what was replaced, and the timing machine results. This is standard practice here, not an optional extra.
Vintage Calibre Familiarity
Movements from the 1940s through the 1980s require a different approach than modern calibres. We have spent years accumulating the reference material and component sources to work with these responsibly.
You May Always Walk Away
After an assessment, if the cost or scope does not suit you, there is no fee and no obligation. We would rather give honest advice than complete work that was not right for the owner's situation.
A Studio, Not a Counter
When you come to Silom Road, you are visiting the working space where your watch will be serviced — not handing it over at a reception desk to be sent elsewhere.
