Started from a Bench on Silom Road
Rattana Studio opened in 2009 in a modest space on Silom Road, founded by Khun Rattana Suphakorn after more than a decade working with independent watchmakers in Geneva and later at a respected Bangkok retailer. The aim from the beginning was straightforward: to offer careful, honest mechanical watch servicing to people who valued their timepieces but found large service centres impersonal or difficult to communicate with.
The studio grew steadily through word of mouth. Owners of vintage Seiko and Swiss pieces, collectors tracing inherited watches, expats seeking a familiar level of craft — all found their way to the workshop. Over the years the team expanded, but the character of the place remained the same: a working studio where questions are welcome and nothing is rushed.
Today Rattana Studio handles movement servicing, cosmetic restoration, and full vintage rebuilds for customers across Thailand. We continue to explain our findings before proceeding and to price work clearly before it begins.

On vintage pieces we conserve original parts wherever possible and discuss the trade-offs of any replacement.

Each member of the studio brings a particular depth to a specific type of work. Together they cover a broad range of movements and eras.
Rattana Suphakorn
Founder & Head Watchmaker
Trained in Switzerland and Thailand with over twenty years at the bench. Specialises in Swiss lever escapements and vintage automatic calibres.
Nattapong Kanchanachart
Movement Technician
Focuses on movement cleaning, regulation, and reassembly. Particularly experienced with Japanese movements from the 1960s through the 1990s.
Pimchanok Amporn
Dial & Case Specialist
Handles cosmetic restoration of hands, dials, and cases with a careful eye for preserving patina where the owner values originality.
How We Work
Standards We Follow
The protocols below are followed on every piece that enters the studio, regardless of service type or price point.
Intake Assessment
Each watch is documented on arrival — condition notes, photographs, and any running observations noted before disassembly.
Ultrasonic Cleaning
Movement components are cleaned in a dedicated ultrasonic machine using watchmaker-grade solutions, then dried and inspected under magnification.
Timing Machine Regulation
All serviced movements are tested on a timing machine in multiple positions, with regulation adjusted to bring daily rate within acceptable range.
Secure Custody
Watches in our care are stored in locked cases when not on the bench. Access is limited to the working team only.
Parts Sourcing Integrity
Replacement parts are sourced from trusted suppliers and, where applicable, from period-correct donor movements. Aftermarket parts are used only when agreed with the owner.
Written Service Record
Every completed service is accompanied by a written record of work carried out, parts replaced, and timing results. Kept on file and provided to the owner.
Our Practice
Watchmaking as a Considered Craft
Bangkok has a quiet community of people who value mechanical watches — for their engineering, their history, or the stories they carry. Many are collectors who have learned that the difference between a well-serviced movement and a poorly serviced one is measured not just in accuracy but in longevity. A movement cleaned and lubricated with care can run faithfully for another decade; one serviced hastily may need attention within months.
At Rattana Studio we focus on mechanical and automatic movements from Swiss and Japanese manufacturers, including calibres that are difficult to find parts for and require some searching or fabrication. Our workshop on Silom Road is equipped for the full range of movement work: disassembly, cleaning, component inspection, mainspring and jewel replacement, reassembly, and timing machine adjustment.
We also address the cosmetic side — hands that have lost their lustre, dials with accumulated grime, and cases with surface marks. Cosmetic work is always discussed first, because some customers prefer to leave the character of age rather than restore a fresh appearance.
